Pronation
Excessive pronation does not allow the foot to supinate and stablize its movement, creating many foot problems including:
- Plantar fasciitis/heel pain
- Bunions and tailor bunions

- Haglund’s deformity (pump bump)
- Ankle and knee pain
Plantar Fasciitis
The most common foot problem
- Overstretching of the fibrous plantar aponeurosis
- Creates edema (swelling) and pain
Bunion
- Partial dislocation of 1st metatarsal/phalangeal (big toe) joint
- Produced by jamming and buckling of joint
- Tailor bunion is same condition adjacent to 5th toe
Hammertoes
- Imbalance in toe muscles
- Toes deform and lose flexibility
- May eventually lose ability to straighten
Haglund’s Deformity
- Commonly known as pump bump
- Caused by improper footwear, biomechanical imbalances or trauma
Calluses
- Uneven distribution of weight on the ball of the foot
- May cause ulcerations in diabetics due to neuropathy
Morton’s Neuroma
- Irritated enlarged plantar nerves
- Often occur from excessive pronation
- A very painful condition
