Featured Products: Powerstep's ProTech Line

Among all its successful products, Stable Step, Inc. cites the Powerstep ProTech CustomPost as the most innovative prefabricated orthotic it has ever introduced.

Powerstep CustomPost is the newest idea in prefabricated orthotics. Its unique snap-on heel options allow podiatrists to truly customize a prefabricated orthotic to meet patient needs. After a simple weight bearing and non weight bearing exam, the podiatrist can select from an interchangeable neutral, two degree and four degree heel post. Dr. Les Appel, a podiatrist, President and owner of Stable Step, suggests the doctor start the patient in a neutral post and finalize the heel posting on the return visit. Combining this customizable feature with CustomPost’s 25% firmer shell and extra heel cushioning will relieve heel and arch pain and various foot ailments. It’s the “customizable” prefabricated orthotic.

Dr. Appel said that “This CustomPost style offers the first customizable prefabricated orthotic that podiatrists will be proud to prescribe.”

Dr. Appel developed the first Powerstep prefabricated orthotic product in 1992. The Powerstep line features medical-grade polypropylene supports, neutral forefoot/rearfoot posts and stabilizing heel cradles. These features help relieve heel and arch pain, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs and other foot conditions, as well as knee and lower back pain.

Over 4,000 medical professionals now prescribe Powerstep ProTech prefabricated orthotics nationwide. The offices of these medical professionals experience tremendous growth because patients return for extra pairs since they are affordable and unavailable to consumers via internet, catalog or stores.

The key to the company’s success has been a combination of innovative products that are effective, aggressive marketing, and outstanding customer service. Each product is sold in high quality packages that stand out in doctors’ offices and which feature the phrase “The Podiatrist’s Prescription for Pain Relief”. Stable Step takes great pride in its outstanding service: a company associate answers the phone personally; orders virtually always ship complete the same day they are received; and the company stands behind its products with a 100% money back guarantee.

In addition to the newly introduced ProTech CustomPost customizable prefab, the company now offers three styles specifically sold only through medical professionals.

Powerstep ProTech Full Length
ProTech Full Length, the company’s most popular product, is a unique podiatric support system with a high level of cushioning. Relief comes from several sources: from the medical grade therapeutic arch supports that are calibrated with flexibility for comfort; from the double layered Poron/EVA cushion casing that enhances comfort; and from the heel cradle and Comfort Cushion that stabilize and protect the heel during landing.

Dr. Appel sees the ProTech Full Length as a product that can provide a first option for users of prefabricated orthotics: “We introduced ProTech Full Length a couple of years ago because our research clearly showed that not only is there demand, but ProTech Full Length meets that demand with its unique cushioning system.”

Powerstep ProTech Classic Plus
Powerstep ProTech Classic Plus prefabricated orthotic features the idea of “More heel cushion...more pain relief!” The full-length Powerstep ProTech Classic Plus has a slim orthotic support system highlighted by a heel cradle opening containing intrinsic Poron cushioning for more pain relief. The ‘teardrop’ decal in the heel signals the added cushioning, consistent with the Powerstep ProTech line, and the fabric color is a midnight blue to distinguish the Classic Plus from other ProTech products.

Powerstep ProTech 3/4
The ProTech ¾, a counterpart to the ProTech Full length version, is a slim, but comfortable orthotic support system that fits a wide variety of shoes. ProTech 3/4 meets a real patient need—effective pain relief at a reasonable price. Dr. Appel offered that “ProTech ¾ is a comfortable product owing to its unique cushioning system. The prescription–like foot support and heel cradles are sealed in two layers of foam—a thin layer of inner foam named Hypurcel that maintains its density and a soft EVA outer foam. The opened heel is filled with a Poron cushion. Our professional customers tell us their patients like this comfort system.”
