Five Ways PowerStep Insoles are an Office Essential

This article was first written in the spring of 2021, and the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel was finally starting to shine! All around us, places were gradually opening back up, people who were shut in completely were beginning to get out again, and offices that had been running remotely were calling their workforce back to the office! Since that point in time, we've had some amazing accomplishments—and some major set-backs—and through it all, America's work life has been massively affected.

With the ebb and flow of working from home, moving back into the office, and back again to our at-home workstations, one thing rings true: workplace efficiency is directly related to your comfort-level. Switching back to the office environment, though, is so much more than just saying goodbye to the t-shirts and pajama pants and full-access to the kiddies and doggos. No surprises here, we’re talking about your feet!

Working from home has it’s ups and downs for sure, but one thing is certain: We’ve gone soft—literally! Working from home means close to zero necessity for formal dress footwear. Instead, while at home, many of us keep our feet comfy in warm fuzzy house slippers or nice thick socks! Moving back to an office environment, we are all looking at the reality of getting back into shoes which some of us haven’t worn in quite some time. Other than form-fitting sports shoes that kept us active over the pandemic, just about anything will feel immediately unnatural and uncomfortable compared to comfy house slippers. We’re here to help!

Dress Shoes
If you're looking at getting back in to dress shoes, we suggest the PowerStep Pinnacle Dress - they're slimmer and take up much less room, designed especially for dress shoes which don't usually boast a lot of extra room. If your dress shoes do not have a removable insole, the PowerStep Pinnacle Dress 3/4 Insole takes up even less room.

Other Shoes
There's also the PowerStep Pinnacle 3/4 Insole, the compact version of our Original Insole. Other work shoes can benefit from our PowerStep Pinnacle Arch Series, where you can choose Low, Neutral, or High, based on your own arch height! For ladies shoes that can be even slimmer and offer up less room for insoles, the PowerStep SlenderFit Fashion Insoles are going to be your best friend.

Work Boots
If you're looking at getting back into work boots, then definitely check out the PowerStep ErgoShield Insoles, with options for antifatigue or even for ESD (electro-static dissipation) -Approved Footwear.

Five Ways PowerStep Insoles are an Office Essential

Just BEING THERE.
If the terms "cubicle farm” or “sedentary" comes to mind for your personal office experience, there are still several ways having a pair of PowerStep Insoles at hand (or foot?) would be a great idea. A slight misconception is that insoles only have an effect while walking or at least standing up. On the contrary, if you are already suffering from painful foot conditions such as plantar fasciitis, morton’s neuroma, bunions, hammertoe, or metatarsalgia, it’s a moot point that these conditions can hurt the most while up on your feet and walking, but your feet are still going to be in pain even if you’re sitting down all day. If you can get work done with your feet set up on your desk, more power to you! But wearing PowerStep Insoles gives your feet the correct support even at rest, and will relieve and prevent pain all day long.

Standing Desks.
A lot of cubicles are being converted to standing desks. This is great for certain health benefits, but can be terrible for someone suffering from foot pain, and can cause added stress to feet, ankles, knees, and lower back as we twist our posture out of alignment to favor the painful parts. Again, PowerStep Insoles in your shoes ensures a correct support of your arch and heel, giving a good foundation for the entire lower skeleton at a stood position.

Making The Rounds
Working in an office, while there’s usually a large amount of work done at a desk, standing or seated, there is actually a considerable amount of time spent away from the desk—and some of that time is spent wisely! Whether it's seeking out advice from a teammate, being called to (another) meeting, trying to track down "that one coworker", gossipping at the copy machine, getting (another) cup of coffee, or even taking a stroll down the block for lunch, your number of steps is going to increase many times over compared to working remotely from home, where most of the “legwork" was done by clicking on a different messenger chat room! Keep your busy feet happy all day long with some PowerStep Insoles!

Traveling
Even though virtual meetings have been a great tool, travel is still very necessary for when virtual-reality meetings have to be substituted for actual-reality, in-person collaboration. While it seems like this would make us concerned about foot fatigue and painful flare-ups from moving around a lot more than staying back at the office, you’re actually looking at less steps, and more time sat down—and in this case, you’re not going to be able to get up and move around whenever you want or need to. Again, having a pair of PowerStep Insoles in the shoes to help provide that constant support and structure to your feet, keeping your foot bones aligned with your knees/hips/lower back is paramount to overall comfort on long frequent trips. And if you can get away with slipping into some PowerStep Footwear for travel time, you'll be in even better shape when you get to your destination!

Support for All Workplaces
Not every “office” is the same. More than sitting or standing at a desk, there are other types of work that are reopening and calling their workforce back in, from various remote situations. Maybe your “day at the office” is a trip out to a construction site, where you battle against rugged ground to get up close and personal with your workflow. There are many factories and warehouses that have immensely vast open spaces that require employees to cover huge distances by foot daily.

White collar, blue collar, no collar; seated, standing, traveling, hustling; we’re all connected to the ever-important foundation of efficiency: our feet. We’re in this together, let us help support you as America's offices (of all kinds!) open back up!
