Q. What is the difference between the Original, Pinnacle, Pinnacle Plus, and Pinnacle Maxx styles?

A. The Original, Pinnacle, Pinnacle Plus and Pinnacle Maxx all offer cushioning and support; however, the level of cushioning and support varies. The Original is a thinner, lower profile product with moderate cushioning, a built-in arch support and heel cradle. The Original’s ultra-thin design is ideal for shoes with less room at the toes. The Pinnacle, a popular and versatile Powerstep® product, features additional cushioning for increased shock-absorption and is ideal for alleviating pain associated with most common foot conditions. The Pinnacle Plus combines the cushioning and arch support of the Pinnacle but with an additional metatarsal pad built-in to help align and spread the metatarsal bones to help alleviate Morton's Neuroma. The Pinnacle Maxx features the same maximum cushioning as the Pinnacle except it incorporates a firmer polypropylene inner support shell with a slightly angled heel platform making it more ideal for those experiencing moderate overpronation.

Q. What are Archmolds heat-moldable insoles and what are the benefits?

A. Archmolds products can be heat-molded to offer a customized fit to your unique foot shape, giving a full-contact support for the foot. Archmolds insoles are ready to wear out of the box and don't have to be heated or trimmed to wear. With continued use the Archmolds will form to your foot structure naturally. Archmolds are available in 5 styles -- the Maximum is the most cushioned for greatest comfort; the Standard has moderate cushioning to fit in more shoe types; the Ultimate offers a more rigid arch and heel cradle for added support; the MultiSport has a narrower design to fit cleats, skates, ski boots and tighter fitting shoes; and the Lean offers a low profile design for those preferring a slimmer insole for running shoes, tighter fitting shoes, skates or ski boots.

Q. How do I heat mold my Archmolds?

A. Archmolds insoles are ready to wear out of the box and don't have to be heated or trimmed to wear. With continued use the Archmolds will form to your foot structure naturally in a couple of days. To heat-mold your Archmolds:

  1. Preheat oven or toaster oven to 225-degrees F. If possible, loosen shoes before starting. Remove all padding from inside of shoes, such as factory inserts or insoles. Make sure to note the RIGHT or LEFT foot on the bottom of each insole. Test-fit the insole by positioning as far back towards the heel as possible. Insole can be trimmed for a better fit, using the shoe's original insole as a guide.
  2. Bake one insole at a time. Place insole on middle rack with temperature tab facing outward. Check the color of the temperature tab after 1 minute, 30 seconds. Remove the insole once the white tab turns black. If the white temperature tab hasn't turned black at this time, leave insole in oven for an additional 15 seconds and check again. Check every 15 seconds until the temperature tab turns black. (May take up to 5 minutes.) DO NOT OVERHEAT.
  3. Quickly place Archmolds into loosed shoe. While wearing socks, place foot in shoe. Stand on insole with knees slightly bent for 1 minute to set. Molded insoles may require a break-in period to adjust to insole. Archmolds can be remolded up to 5 times.

Q. What is Powerstep’s “Complete Satisfaction Guarantee”?

A. We stand behind our products and always guarantee them to be free of defects in materials and workmanship. There is a lifetime guarantee against breakage of the plastic foot support (inside casing) when used under normal conditions. We will replace any product to ensure complete customer satisfaction. If you are not satisfied with your product, please return it to your place of purchase for a refund or exchange. If you purchased the item from powerstep.com, please contact customer service at 1-888-237-3668.

Q. What is the expected life of a Powerstep® product?

A. Exactly how long your Powersteps last depends on wear and care. When used under normal conditions, Powerstep® orthotics should last 6 months or longer. You can expect the product life to be significantly shorter if you switch your orthotics from shoe to shoe, wear the same pair daily, wear during rigorous activity such as running or working out, etc. Powerstep® orthotics are designed using the highest quality cushioning foams and supportive materials possible but even these high quality materials will break down over time with extended wear and tear.

Q. When should I replace my orthotics?

A. We recommend replacing your insoles when you begin to notice a decrease in comfort or support. Several factors affect the wear of the product, such as activity, usage and foot structure, but under normal, casual wear, your Powerstep’s should last 6 months or longer.

Q. Can Powerstep® orthotics be transferred from shoe to shoe?

® orthotics for each pair of shoes to help extend the product life.

Q. Which style of Powerstep® is recommended for running shoes?

A. We recommend the PULSE® Performance Orthotics for vigorous activities such as running. The PULSE® Performance Orthotics are designed with advanced cushioning and an improved durable fabric to foam bond strength for increased durability. The Powerstep® Pinnacle is also suitable and recommended for running or athletic shoes.

Q. Where can I purchase the Pulse® Performance Orthotic?

A. The Pulse® is only available through independent run specialty stores. They are not available for purchase online. Use our dealer locator to find a store near you.

Q. How do I use Powerstep® orthotics?

A. Use Powerstep® orthotics as needed for increased comfort in any shoe. If you are not accustomed to wearing arch support orthotics, it may be necessary to wear a few hours a day until your feet are used to better support, and then wear full time.

Q. How do I care for my Powerstep® orthotics?

A. Spot clean with a mild detergent. Do not immerse in water. Air dry and ensure fully dry before inserting back into shoes.

Q. What’s the difference between an orthotic and an insole?

Powerstep® orthotics and insoles are designed by a doctor of podiatric medicine to provide a unique foot support system that goes beyond “foot comfort”. Unlike standard cushioning insoles, Powerstep® orthotics take foot comfort and support further. Their unique, encapsulated design provides real support and stability to actually relieve pain and even prevent it from developing.

Q. What Powerstep® products are recommended for Plantar Fasciitis?

A. Plantar Fasciitis is one of the main conditions Powerstep® products are recommended to treat. Our Powerstep® orthotics with polypropylene support shells are proven effective in clinical studies. Research has shown that Powerstep® improves foot function, decreases foot pain and increase comfort regardless of the nature of the presenting complaint.1 Powerstep® has also been proven to provide the same therapeutic outcome for heel pain as casted orthotics within 4 weeks of use.2 Use Powerstep® orthotics and the Powerstep® PF Support Sleeves during the day and the Powerstep® Arch Wrap at rest. Incorporate the Powerstep® UltraStretch® Night Sock or Dorsal Night Splint at night or rest for optimal treatment of plantar fasciitis. Also stretch the foot and leg muscles, tendons and ligaments with the UltraFlexx® Foot Rocker.

Q. Are Powerstep® orthotics recommended for overpronation?

A. Yes! Powerstep® orthotics are commonly recommended for this foot condition. The encapsulated polypropylene support shell in most Powerstep® products helps control mild pronation. The Pinnacle Maxx features a more firm support shell and a mildly angled heel platform to help address more serious cases of pronating or moderate overpronation.

Q. I have high arches. Will Powerstep® help my feet?

A. Yes! High arched, supinated feet are tight and rigid feet. Powersteps effectively redistribute the pressures from the ball of the foot and heel, and our deep heel cup helps support and stabilize the heel, ankles and knees to help prevent further outward rotation of the foot. Try our ComfortLast® Cushioning Insoles or ArchLite Cushioning Insoles for optimal comfort.

Q. Do Powerstep® orthotics contain latex?

A. Powerstep® products are latex-free.

Q. My podiatrist recommended/sold me a pair of ProTech orthotics. Can I purchase another pair online?

A. The professional-grade ProTech products are only available through medical professionals. Only Powerstep’s Retail products may be purchased through select retailers. If you need assistance determining which Powerstep® Retail product is best for you, please see our selection chart or contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Q. Can I recycle my orthotics?

A. We currently do not have a recycling program for used insoles. We do, however, recycle over half a million pounds of foam annually during the manufacturing process. We also recycle paper, cardboard, some plastics and all metals to reduce waste in landfills. We encourage the recycling of our cardboard packaging as well.

Q. Can I trim my orthotics?

A. Because most of our styles come in 7 or more sizes, our orthotics offer a truer fit to your shoe size. Should trimming be required, however, our products can be trimmed to fit as necessary. Use your shoe’s insole as a template for trimming for the best fit.

Q. The Powerstep® I purchased isn't working for me. Can I return it?

A. If you are not satisfied with your Powerstep® product, please return to the place of purchase for return or exchange. If you purchased your product from Powerstep® or through powerstep.com, please contact Customer Service at 1-888-237-3668 within 30 days for further instruction. Returned freight charges are not reimbursed or credited.
